Bringing Colour and Connection to OWL: My Latest Commission in Seattle

Bringing Colour and Connection to OWL: My Latest Commission in Seattle

I was delighted to have been asked by ObjectSpace to make an artwork for OWL, a new mixed-income residential development in Seattle's Northgate neighbourhood.

The project was an opportunity to create artwork that resonates with the community's spirit and the architectural ethos of the space.

OWL is multifamily housing designed to foster inclusivity and modern living in Seattle. The program is all about affordable housing to build community connection combined with contemporary aesthetics.

I wanted to create a piece that reflects OWL's commitment to diversity and unity. Working with map is a great way to do this of course, hinting at all the personal journeys and layered stories that are part of the project.

Process and Materials

This art work comprises 494 3cm dots cut from birch wood panels and faced in vintage map featuring locations from all over the world.

I carefully select each dot by colour to create a soft ombre rainbow composition.
