The Map Room

The Map Room houses Amelia’s extraordinary collection of over 40,000 maps, dating from as early as 1850. Ranging from detailed street maps to world atlases, the collection offers a rich range of colour - from the subtle tones of early lithographs to the more vibrant palettes of later prints.

Each artwork begins with a meticulous search for the special locations, selected for their design, colour and detail. This remarkable resource enables Amelia to create unique compositions, weaving colour and movement throughout each piece.

The interplay of colours, geography and history gives every artwork a layered depth, with every piece inviting the viewer to find their own story - offering a chance to connect through a small detail, a familiar place, or a memory that holds personal meaning.
