The map collection
Over the past 25 years, Amelia has built one of the world's most extensive private map collections, with over 40,000 maps and atlases in her beautiful studio in the Kent Countryside . Her collection includes stunning vintage, modern, and hand-drawn maps, allowing her to incorporate any location into her artwork. Clients have the unique opportunity to commission personalised artworks that feature their chosen locations of anywhere in the world.
Map dot artworks
Amelia painstakingly selects each projects custom locations from the map collection simultaneously working to a bespoke colour palette and checking for composition and desired scale. Maps are hand cut and bonded to birch wood sheets which are laser cut into dots. The artworks are mathematically precise in their arrangement and the dots are ordered to create delicate and striking blends of colour.
Wood panel colour studies
Amelia's artistic expertise is deeply rooted in her comprehensive training and industry experience. In particular, the study of Joseph Albers' colour theory at Central St Martins honed her skills in mixing and blending colours. Combined with her background in the Italian textile design industry which further developed her intuitive eye for colour and her proficiency in creating intricate, woven designs.
Stripe artworks
Amelia has successfully transferred these skills to her current medium, using wood and laser cutting machines to create her distinctive stripe and dot artworks. Her ability to blend colours and her detailed, methodical approach to design are evident in the intricate compositions. This combination of artistic training and industry experience enables Amelia to produce unique and visually captivating pieces that resonate with both private collectors and commercial clients
